Rwanda’s Amavubi are pulling out all the stops for their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Nigeria’s Super Eagles this Friday. Head coach Adel Amarouche has named 13 foreign-based professionals in his squad as Rwanda aims to upset the African giants in Kigali.
Foreign Firepower to Boost Rwanda
Captain Bizimana Djihad, a midfield maestro at Al Ahli Tripoli, leads the charge. His club teammate, Manzi Thierry, strengthens the defense. Mugisha Bonheur (Stade Tunisien) and Ishimwe Anicet (Olympique Beja) add more overseas quality.
Rwanda also counts on Kaizer Chiefs’ goalkeeper Ntwari Fiacre, who was a nightmare for Nigeria last year. The shot-stopper earned Man of the Match honors after denying the Super Eagles in a goalless draw in Kigali.
The squad includes players from local clubs APR, Rayon Sports, and Police FC, ensuring a blend of foreign experience and homegrown talent.
