Ajaegbu Rallies Behind FCT CP’s Tech-Driven Policing Vision, Pledges AMAC’s Grassroots Support
Labour Party chairmanship aspirant for Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Ifeanyi Ajaegbu, has thrown his full support behind the new Commissioner of Police for the FCT, CP Adewale Ajao, commending his tech-driven strategy to combat crime in Nigeria’s capital.
In a statement released on Friday, Ajaegbu praised the Commissioner’s “bold and timely” plan to modernize policing through surveillance systems, drones, intelligence reforms, and community engagement.
“I wholeheartedly support this tech-driven and intelligence-led approach to policing,” Ajaegbu said. “If given the opportunity to serve AMAC, I will work hand-in-hand with the FCT Police Command to complement their efforts with grassroots intelligence, youth empowerment, and local vigilance initiatives.”
Security Beyond the Barracks: Ajaegbu’s People-First Pledge
Ajaegbu’s remarks come just hours after CP Ajao unveiled a comprehensive plan to overhaul Abuja’s security architecture using smart technologies, data-driven policing, and collaboration with stakeholders.
Positioning himself as a “bridge between the police and the people,” Ajaegbu emphasized that true security must be built from the ground up.
“As a son of the soil and champion of the people, I believe security is not just the duty of law enforcement—it is our collective responsibility,” he said. “I will ensure AMAC plays its part through community trust-building, vigilante support, safety awareness programs, and digital town halls.”
A New Era of Partnership Politics
Unlike traditional political grandstanding, Ajaegbu’s tone signaled a desire for partnership, not politicking. He pledged to ensure AMAC’s local government structure actively supports the FCT Command’s efforts—not just in words but through budgetary support, volunteer training programs, and civic tech initiatives.
He called for all stakeholders—traditional leaders, youth associations, civil society, and security operatives—to join in what he described as “a new era of collaborative governance for a safer AMAC.”
Labour Party’s Lead, Ajaegbu’s Offer
Ajaegbu, who is steadily gaining traction as a grassroots candidate within the Labour Party, has consistently promoted themes of inclusive governance, transparency, and youth mobilization. His latest position on security now places him directly in line with public expectations for pragmatic, pro-people leadership in the capital.
“Together with the FCT Police and our resilient people, we will make AMAC a model of safety, collaboration, and responsible leadership,” he concluded.
