Tinubu Admits Nigerians Are Suffering—Labour Counters With 20 Demands

On Workers’ Day, President Tinubu broke silence on Nigeria’s economic pain—but it didn’t land well with organised labour.
Speaking through Labour Minister Maigari Dingyadi, Tinubu acknowledged the rise in hunger, joblessness, and civil unrest.
But the NLC and TUC weren’t impressed. Instead, they delivered a thunderous 20-point demand that ranged from minimum wage reform to reversing telco tariffs and tackling insecurity.
Labour leaders Joe Ajaero and Festus Osifo warned of “an approaching crisis” if government keeps ignoring workers’ realities.
They slammed what they called “juju economics” and threatened industrial action if action isn’t taken soon.
