Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen etched his name deeper into Galatasaray’s history books on Saturday, scoring twice in a commanding 4-1 win over Sivasspor in the Turkish Süper Lig and surpassing his previous best goal tally for a season.

The 26-year-old’s brace at RAMS Park took his season total to 33 goals across all competitions — eclipsing the 31 goals he scored during his breakout 2022/23 campaign with Napoli.

🔥 Two Goals, One Statement

Osimhen opened the scoring in the 15th minute with a sharp right-footed finish before adding a second on the 31st minute, sealing his 24th league goal of the campaign and reinforcing his position as Galatasaray’s attacking heartbeat.

He now holds the best individual scoring season by a Galatasaray player in over a decade, and continues to push the club toward a third straight Süper Lig title.

🗣️ “We’re Lucky to Have Him” — Galatasaray Coach Okan Buruk

Head coach Okan Buruk was effusive in praise post-match:

“Victor is a rare talent. He scores, he presses, he inspires. We’re lucky to have him,” he said.

Since joining Galatasaray on loan from Napoli, Osimhen has re-energized the Istanbul giants’ European ambitions, drawing interest again from top Premier League and Serie A clubs.

Galatasaray Top, Fenerbahçe Chasing

The win keeps Galatasaray eight points clear of José Mourinho’s Fenerbahçe, with one game in hand — tightening their grip on the title with just weeks left in the season.

According to local media, Osimhen’s impact has made him a fan favorite in Istanbul, with supporters calling for a permanent deal if Napoli are willing to negotiate a post-loan transfer.

Osimhen: “It’s About Trophies, Not Just Records”

Speaking to Turkish broadcaster NTV Spor, Osimhen said:

“Breaking my own record is special, but I’m more focused on helping the team win trophies. The love from the fans and teammates has been incredible.”

What’s Next?

With 33 goals and counting, Osimhen will aim to stretch his scoring run even further as Galatasaray prepares for:

  • A decisive clash with Başakşehir

  • A Turkish Cup semi-final

  • A potential European playoff berth
