Suspended Governor Siminalayi Fubara has credited President Bola Tinubu with averting total political collapse in Rivers State, revealing that the declaration of emergency rule was a decisive intervention that halted imminent chaos.

In a statement marking his two years in office, Fubara said the President’s move restored stability to a state gripped by bitter infighting and legislative paralysis.

“If not for Mr. President, the story today would have been different,” Fubara said during a stakeholders’ meeting in Port Harcourt. “He acted with wisdom at the right time.”

He confirmed that the peace and reconciliation process is well underway and expressed optimism about reconciling with his estranged godfather, FCT Minister Nyesom Wike.

Forgiveness, Rebuilding and “Difficult Decisions”

Calling for unity, Fubara told his supporters to let go of grievances and “come down from our high horses.”

He said the administration would soon take “difficult decisions” to rebuild Rivers State and promised reconciliation, especially with Wike, citing meetings already held in Abuja.

“There is no reason why there will not be peace between me and my Oga,” he said, promising a return to “quality dividends of democracy.”
