Shooting Stars Assistant Coach Akin Olowokere Slumps and Dies During Training

Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) of Ibadan has been thrown into mourning after their newly appointed assistant coach, Akin Olowokere, collapsed and died during a training session on Monday morning.

Eyewitnesses told Punch that Olowokere slumped on the pitch while participating in team drills and was immediately rushed to an undisclosed hospital, where he was confirmed dead.

The incident occurred only weeks after Olowokere was unveiled as part of the Oluyole Warriors’ restructured technical crew, following the exit of the Gbenga Ogunbote-led coaching team.

Akin Olowokere collapsed on pitch, rushed to hospital, confirmed dead.

A respected figure in Nigerian football, Olowokere spent several years as a player with Sunshine Stars of Akure before transitioning into coaching. He served as an assistant coach under Edith Agoye at Sunshine Stars, earning a reputation for professionalism and humility.

The cause of death has not yet been officially confirmed, and as of press time, Shooting Stars had not issued a formal statement.

His passing marks a significant loss for 3SC and the Nigerian football community at large.
