STOCKHOLM, SWEDEN – June 15, 2025

Armand ‘Mondo’ Duplantis continues to redefine the ceiling of human flight. The Swedish pole vault phenom set a new world record of 6.28 meters at the Stockholm Diamond League on Sunday — breaking his own mark and electrifying a home crowd at the legendary Olympic Stadium.

With victory already secured, Duplantis attempted and cleared 6.28m on his first try, surpassing his previous best of 6.27m set in February. It marks the 12th time Duplantis has broken the world record, and the first time on Swedish soil — a dream fulfilled.

“This was everything I’ve dreamed of — to do it here, in front of my people, is unbelievable,” Duplantis said, tearing his shirt off in celebration.

Pure Elevation

Duplantis was in a league of his own. The 25-year-old entered the competition late, cruised past the field, and thrilled spectators with every vault. Kurtis Marschall of Australia came a distant second with 5.90m, while French legend Renaud Lavillenie, 38, finished fourth at 5.80m.

The crowd, packed into the historic stadium built for the 1912 Olympics, erupted as Duplantis cleared the bar and sprinted down the track in celebration.

“This is what athletics is all about. Precision, pressure, and one perfect moment,” said IDNN Athletics Analyst Kristina Vahlgren.

Diamond League Domination

Sunday’s leap was Duplantis’ 37th victory in 41 Diamond League outings, further cementing his status as the most dominant pole vaulter of all time.

He first broke the world record in 2020, overtaking Lavillenie’s long-standing 6.16m mark. Since then, he’s turned the sport into his playground — breaking barriers and bringing global attention to field events.
