According to a letter dated April 4, 2025, signed by Commissioner of Police (Operations), Olajide Ibitoye, the Emir is expected at the Force Intelligence Department Headquarters by 10 a.m. on Tuesday. This invitation has raised fresh concerns about political interference and traditional leadership rights in Kano.

Still, locals insist that what occurred wasn’t a Durbar but a traditional post-prayer horse ride from the mosque to the palace—a common Eid practice.
“This wasn’t a Durbar. The Emir has always ridden his horse on Eid day—it’s part of our heritage,” one resident explained.
