Labour Party Accuses Suspended Reps Member Ogene of Cyberbullying, Circulating Fake AGF Document

The Labour Party has demanded the immediate arrest and interrogation of Hon. Afam Victor Ogene, a suspended House of Representatives member, over his alleged role in circulating a fake document purportedly from the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF). The incident has sparked what is now being described as the Labour Party Ogene cyberbullying scandal.
In a statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Obiora Ifoh, the party alleged that Ogene had taken to social media to publish the unverified document in a bid to blackmail party leaders and impugn the integrity of Nigeria’s top justice and policing institutions.
“He’s attempting to cyberbully the AGF, the Police, and the Labour Party with a document that’s clearly fake — it has no Certified True Copy (CTC) and could not have come from any official channel,” Ifoh declared.
Fake Document and Unaccounted Party Funds
According to Ifoh, Ogene’s conduct stems from his suspension over “incompetence” in leading the Labour Caucus in the National Assembly, as well as unaccounted funds contributed by fellow LP lawmakers.
“To this moment, Hon. Ogene has not explained how he handled the contributions from LP legislators. He’s now playing dirty politics, fabricating documents, and dragging the AGF and IGP into partisan theatrics,” the party spokesman added.
The Labour Party insists that only the IGP or Minister of Justice would have access to such a classified document, and that Ogene’s possession of it—if real—warrants criminal investigation.
“He neither works at the AGF’s office nor the IGP’s. If the document exists, let him explain how he got it,” Ifoh said.
Threats of Expulsion and Recall from Constituency
The party warned that if Ogene continues his campaign of misinformation, he will be expelled from the party, and his constituents will be mobilized to initiate his recall.
“He has become a disservice to his constituency. We are left with no choice but to act decisively,” the statement added.
Ifoh also accused Ogene of engaging in coordinated legal antics, including forum-shopping for court rulings in Zamfara State and attempting to revive dead cases through media stunts.
Factional Crisis and the Abure Leadership Battle
This latest confrontation is the climax of internal strife within the Labour Party, following the Supreme Court’s affirmation of Julius Abure’s national leadership—a verdict that reportedly rattled Ogene’s faction.
“They thought Abure’s leadership would be terminated. That didn’t happen. Now they’re throwing mud in desperation,” Ifoh concluded.
