“We Came, We Scored, We Conquered!” – Ikorodu City Blow Katsina Away in Record 6-0 NPFL Thrashing

Ikorodu City 6-0 Katsina United: Ruthless, Relentless, Record-Breaking

Ikorodu City FC lit up the Mobolaji Johnson Sports Arena in Lagos on Thursday with a devastating 6-0 demolition of Katsina United, recording the biggest win of the 2025 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season and sending a powerful message to the league’s top contenders.

From the first whistle, the Lagos-based side played like a team possessed — full of hunger, confidence, and attacking precision.

It all began in the 13th minute, when Waliu Ojetoye, the dynamic right-back, burst forward and delivered a wicked low cross that was clinically tucked away by Emmanuel Solomon. The crowd had barely settled before Solomon turned provider in the 36th minute, threading a brilliant pass to Shola Adelani, who rose highest to head in the second.

Second-Half Carnage

After halftime, Ikorodu City refused to let up. Ayomide Cole, a constant nightmare for Katsina’s backline, outwitted his marker in the 55th minute before unselfishly setting up Tosin for a calm third goal.

But Cole wasn’t done. In the 71st minute, he latched onto another stunning cross from the match’s standout player — Waliu Ojetoye, who by then had already notched two assists.

The third came moments later, when substitute Oladimeji Dada, on his debut, made it five with a cool finish at the back post. Waliu was again the provider, completing a rare hat-trick of assists, a feat only matched this season by teammate Harrison Uzondu against Lobi Stars.

Then came the cherry on top — Cole’s thunderbolt in the 86th minute, a screamer from distance that sealed his brace and sealed Katsina’s humiliation.

Table Shaker and Title Challenger?

With this emphatic result, Ikorodu City climb to 4th place on the NPFL table with 49 points from 32 matches — leapfrogging Shooting Stars and sitting just a single point behind third-placed Abia Warriors.

Even more remarkably, this is the first 6-0 win in the NPFL since Rivers United embarrassed Gombe United with the same scoreline in June 2024.

Coach [Insert Name] and his men now look like serious contenders for continental football next season. With this kind of form, the dream of a top-three finish is more alive than ever.
