The FBI and DEA have requested an additional 90 days before releasing potentially explosive documents tied to an old drug case involving President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia confirmed the delay request on Friday, citing time needed to process and review classified material.
While Tinubu has long denied wrongdoing, transparency advocates say this extension raises fresh concerns about his past—and its potential implications on Nigeria’s global image.
“The people deserve to know,” said a U.S.-based Nigerian legal activist.
With 2027 already in political view, this delay could heat up debates back home and complicate diplomatic optics abroad.
