Edo North Quakes as Owan Bloc Rejects Oshiomhole’s Return Bid — “31 Years of Etsako Dominance Must End”

The Owan bloc in Edo North Senatorial District has erupted in outrage following the endorsement of Senator Adams Oshiomhole for a second term by the Edo North APC caucus.
In a defiant press statement, the Owan Conscience Group condemned the endorsement and called for an immediate rotation of the senatorial ticket to Owan, citing decades of political marginalisation.
“The Etsako axis has monopolized this seat for 31 unbroken years. It’s Owan’s turn. No debate,” said the group’s chairman Richard Ofen-Imu.
Edo North Political Map: The Tripod Tension
Edo North is made up of:
-
Etsako (3 LGAs)
-
Owan (2 LGAs)
-
Akoko-Edo (1 LGA but 2 constituencies)
Despite this, Etsako has:
-
Held the senatorial seat for over 3 decades
-
Produced ministers and ambassadors in recent administrations
The group warned that continued domination by Etsako could threaten the fragile peace and sense of equity in Edo North.
Key Quotes from Owan Conscience Group
“We totally disassociate ourselves from this unjust endorsement.”
“Edo North is not Etsako’s private property.”
“Oshiomhole has served. It is time to yield.”
The group hailed the historic calls for rotation by Edo North elders including the late High Chief Raymond Dokpesi, Sen. Victor Oyofo, and Rt. Hon. Col. Tunde Akogun.
They also referenced current APC power players from Etsako — including Minister Abubakar Momoh and former Minister Clem Agba — as further proof of lopsided appointments.
Political Parties Put on Notice
The Owan bloc is calling on all political parties — especially the All Progressives Congress (APC) — to allocate the 2027 senatorial ticket to Owan in the name of equity, rotation, and peace.
“We served for only 4 years. They’ve had 31. Any further endorsement of Oshiomhole will be an insult,” Ofen-Imu warned.
