Opposition Gears Up: PDP Throws Gauntlet Ahead of 2027 Election Showdown

The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has issued a defiant warning to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) — declaring that political defections, propaganda, and strategic decoys won’t rescue the party in the 2027 general elections.
Speaking through its National Publicity Secretary Debo Ologunagba, the PDP dared APC to show Nigerians a scorecard of real performance, not recycled defections or political showmanship.
“Nigerians are wiser. They’ve seen enough of gimmicks. APC should come with their report card — not empty rallies and photo-ops,” Ologunagba stated.

Ologunagba accused the APC-led government of presiding over a regime of economic despair and insecurity.
“The Naira is bleeding, fuel prices are rising, unemployment is exploding, and insecurity has become a lifestyle,” he said. “You think a few defections will cover this? Think again.”
The PDP insists that the Tinubu administration has failed to deliver on critical promises — from job creation to subsidy reforms and public infrastructure.
Strategic Realignments or Political Panic?
The PDP’s reaction comes amid reports of ongoing high-level political negotiations aimed at wooing opposition senators, governors, and influential figures into APC ahead of the 2027 race.
But PDP leadership says such moves reveal APC’s internal panic and crumbling grassroots base.
“If you’ve done well, you won’t be this desperate to co-opt people from the same parties you once called failures,” Ologunagba noted.
