From Ikenne to Africa: Remo Stars Set Sights on Continental Redemption

By: IDNN Sports Desk

Ikenne, Ogun State – Fresh off their historic Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) title win, Remo Stars captain Junior Nduka has boldly declared that the club is primed for a stronger run in the 2024/25 CAF Champions League.

This will be the third attempt at continental football for the Sky Blue Stars, and Nduka believes it will be the one that changes the narrative.

“We’ve come close twice, but this time it’s going to be different,” he said. “We know what it takes now.”

Remo Stars Set Sights on Continental Redemption

🏆 The Journey So Far

Season CAF Appearance Outcome
2022/23 CAF Confederation Cup Eliminated – 1st round
2023/24 CAF Champions League Eliminated – preliminary round
2024/25 CAF Champions League 🟢 Qualified as NPFL champions

Nduka insists that those early exits were painful but educational.

“Consistency and hard work got us this far. Now it’s time to prove that we’re not just Nigeria’s best — we can stand with Africa’s best too.”

 NPFL Title Redemption

Remo Stars sealed the NPFL title in Ikenne with a commanding 4-1 win over Ikorodu City. For Nduka, the celebration came with a flashback to the heartbreak of losing the title to Bendel Insurance by a single point last season.

“That loss in Lagos still hurts. But it also fuelled our fire. Now we’re champions. We earned this.”

Club Culture: Ambition Meets Discipline

Since their promotion to the NPFL, Remo Stars have been one of Nigeria’s fastest-rising clubs, known for:

  • Youth development

  • Tactical structure

  • Strong local backing

  • A hunger to grow beyond Nigeria’s borders

  • Squad strengthening: 4 new signings expected, including 2 foreign-based

Coach Daniel Ogunmodede is expected to retain his position, with technical director support being upgraded for continental demands.

Remo Stars are no longer content with just showing up. After heartbreak and hard lessons, they now walk into the CAF Champions League as Nigeria’s flagbearers — with scars and swagger.

The rest of Africa, take note.
