Suspended Senator representing Kogi Central, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, made a dramatic return to her constituency on Tuesday, arriving in a helicopter for what has become a defiant and widely attended homecoming rally.
According to eyewitness reports, the embattled senator was met with a massive crowd of cheering supporters, despite ongoing warnings from both the Kogi State Government and Police Command to cancel the event due to security concerns.
“Nobody Can Stop Me” — Natasha Declares at Rally
Taking the stage, Senator Natasha delivered a bold and emotional speech, affirming her right to return home and declaring that she would not be intimidated by political forces.
“Nobody and nothing can stop me from coming home. I’m an Ebira woman; this is my land,” she told the crowd.
“I’m the daughter of the late Jimoh Abdul Akpoti. I know my roots. I’m not a bastard, and I’m not afraid of anybody.”
Her comments sparked loud cheers from her supporters, many of whom had waited hours to see her arrive.
Rally Held Despite Official Ban and Security Alert
This homecoming rally comes just hours after the Kogi Police Command reiterated its advisory urging her to cancel the event, citing intelligence reports that suggested the risk of violence.
The state government had also issued a ban on rallies and large gatherings, but Natasha’s media team had dismissed the warnings, saying she had every right to engage with her constituents during Eid-el-Fitr.
A Bold Political Statement in the Face of Opposition
Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan’s defiance is seen as a direct challenge to the Kogi political establishment, particularly the administration of Governor Usman Ododo and former governor Yahaya Bello.
Earlier this week, Natasha warned that if any violence erupted during her visit, Nigerians should hold the state leadership and Senate President Godswill Akpabio accountable.
